Presentation of the SIAGM

The SIAGM is an intermunicipal organisation of 34 municipalities, created in 1964. Its aim is to promote local development according to a common vision of protection, planning and sustainable development. Since 2000, the SIAGM is leading a project of Natural Regional Park and is preparing its charter.

The project of Natural Regional Park of the Gulf of Morbihan

It is based on:  

  • A coherent territory in order to deal with all the issues.
  • The elaboration of a development strategy by confronting and sharing objectives based on the aim to preserve and highlight the diversity of natural, urban and landscape heritage.
  • An initiative that aim to coordinate and improve coherency between all the initiatives existing on the Gulf of Morbihan
  • The elaboration of a contractual agreement: a charter permitting to clarify the expectation and the commitment of each partner in a permanent adjustment process.
  • The existence of the intermunicipal organisation, real interlocutor on the territory with existing competencies.

The originality of the Parks projects

  • It is based on the valorisation of natural heritage by the research of equilibrium between economy, social and environmental issues. Therefore, it deals with sustainable development, which is the fundamental base of a development strategy.
  • The orientations will be represented on visual documents (maps) that will present and define the objectives.
  • The approach make by the SIAGM in its project for the gulf of Morbihan and in particular in the Park project, aims to be and integrated coastal zone management. Its purpose is to conciliate issues in order to preserve and promote heritage in the development of the territory.
  • The link between sea and land are not limited to the coastal zone. Indeed, the carrying capacity on land and sea on the shoreline are closely linked to the activities set up on the inland areas.
